Maine Made matelasse coverlets are woven from high grade cotton on Jacquard Looms.

There is one exception, however, and that is luxury coverlets woven by Maine Heritage Weavers, a Maine, USA, based [tag]textile [/tag]company. Maine Heritage Weavers continues the tradition of weaving cotton Bates style coverlets such as Martha's Choice Coverlet.
Martha's Choice (formerly known as George Washington's Choice) is still one of the most popular designs. George chose the original of this design for his bride.
The original weave, older than Christianity, was lost when textile machinery replaced skilled weavers. Bates Fabrics had recaptures this weaving art and former employees continue this tradition at [tag]Maine Heritage Weavers[/tag].
