Due to the fact that most woven coverlets are imported, woven luxurious coverlets and bedspreads made in the USA are becoming more and more difficult to find.
There is one exception, however, and that is luxurious coverlets woven by Maine Heritage Weavers, a Maine, USA, based textile company. This company was started by several Maine craftswomen and craftsmen, all former employees of the former Bates Fabrics, the world renown manufacturer of bates style bedspreads, throws, shams and coverlets.
Queen Elizabeth and Martha's Choice is two of their most popular designs. Both are available in bedspreads, shams and throws, and Martha's Choice is offered in coverlet sizes as well.
Maine Heritage Weavers of Lewiston, Maine, USA, operates out of the same buildings that housed the Bates operation using Jacquard and dobby looms.
