Several newly manufactured matresses and box springs are made much higher than they used to be. Therefore, we here at the Bates Mill Store still buy factory direct bedspreads from the on-site manufacturer of these luxurious matelasse and candlewick bedspreads and coverlets.

So to accomodate the newly designed matresses we offer custom sized luxury bedspreads and coverlets to fit your new bed.

For an additional $30 we are able to customize your bedspread or coverlet up to a 30" drop on most patterns (our standard is 21") so you can have a perfect fitting, beautiful spread. We can also accomodate to post beds, as we offer split corners as well to prevent bunching around the bottom.

Vintage hobnail throws are woven in the USA at Maine Heritage Weavers in Lewiston, Maine.  Martha Washington's Choice (also remembered as George Washington's Choice) is still one of the most popular luxury hobnail type (terry loop) designs.  This vintage woven hobnail design is available with string fringe or pom-pom fringe in either white or antique colors.  New colors will be offered this summer for a limited time.

George Washington chose the original of this design for his bride. The original weave, older than Christianity, was lost when textile machinery replaced skilled weavers.  Bates Fabrics had recaptures this weaving art and former employees continue this tradition at Maine Heritage Weavers in Lewiston, Maine.

This popular vintage design is also available in standard or custom sized bedspreads and coverlets with pom-pom fringe or luxurious string fringe.  These easy to care for throws and machine washable and will not shrink more than 3 percent due to the high quality of yarn used in manufacturing.  Free fabric swatches are offered to their customers.

Maine Heritage Weavers also manufactures coverlets, shams, bedspreads and blankets at their manufacturing plant in Lewiston, Maine on similar looms used by Bates.

Custom cotton woven coverlets from Maine Heritage Weavers are loomed to be heirloomed in 100 percent high grade cotton.

Coverlets are smaller than [tag]bedspreads[/tag] and are usually used over a dust ruffle or [tag]bed skirt[/tag].  Maine Heritage Weavers can make custom size coverlets to accommodate the different sizes of mattresses.  Different fringe or braid choices are available on custom orders as well.

These woven coverlets are 100 percent high grade cotton and preshrunk.  In addition to coverlets, Maine Heritage Weavers also manufactures bedspreads, throws and blankets in one of the former Bates Mill buildings in Lewiston, Maine.
